Where did the name JMU 4 Kids originate?
All 4 members of Joe Urschel’s (founder of JMU4Kids) family have the initials JMU.
What is your pick-up policy?
Any one who comes to pick up a camper needs to be listed on that camper’s registration form as an approved pick up person, and they need to show photo ID. This includes all parents and/or legal guardians. In the event someone comes to pick up that is not listed as an approved pick up person we will call the parents/guardians in the order they are listed to gain verification. If we are unable to connect with a parent or guardian we will call the emergency contacts in the order they are listed. No child will be released to anyone unless that person is an approved pick up person, AND that person furnishes a photo ID. There will be no exceptions.
Additional approved pick up people can be added throughout the summer by a parent/guardian in writing, or via email with the email address used during registration.
What should your child bring to camp?
A water bottle, a full change of clothes, bathing suit & towel, a lunch, sneakers, and a good attitude. Please use a permanent marker and put your camper’s name on everything.
What should not come to camp?
Any electronics, cell phones, and personal toys (stuffed animals, action figures, Pokemon cards, etc.). We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. It’s helpful if the camper’s name is on lunch boxes, towels, swimsuits, hats, coats, etc.
What if my child needs medication during the day?
Please refer to our Health & Medication Policies page.
Are families required to provide immunization records?
Yes. Per NYS DOH policy each family is required to provide their child’s immunization records. They can be brought to camp on your child’s first day, or emailed to our Health Director at jmu4kids.healthinfo@gmail.com.
Can my child be in the same group as their friend?
Due to the complex nature of arranging groups each week – especially for our Day Camps – we do not accept grouping requests.
Will my child be in the same group each week they attend?
While we try to keep campers in the same groups from week to week it is not guaranteed. It may be necessary to move campers to a different group during the summer to maintain equal group sizes with campers of similar ages & grades.
What is the difference between Sports Camp and Sports & Fitness?
The “Sports Camp” held at All Saints Academy is a more recreational version of playing sports. Our “Sports & Fitness Camp” at St. Pius X is aimed at the serious young athlete, who not only wants to participate in the major sports, but also want to learn how to train for them. We will include agility, flexibility, quickness, strength & nutrition, as well as injury prevention and treatment. Finally, “Sports & Fitness” will introduce many “lifetime sports” as well.
